Our Mission
The mission of Rusty’s Legacy is to rescue dogs from high kill shelters in western North Carolina, save stray and endangered dogs, promote spay and neuter and work tirelessly toward a no-kill community
Rusty's Legacy is a State licensed animal shelter and is inspected by the N.C. Department of Agriculture several times a year. We are the only State licensed animal rescue in McDowell County.
